Terms of Service

Last updated: August 5, 2026

These terms govern your use of PreviewAPI, the website screenshot service at previewapi.dev. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.

1. The service

PreviewAPI captures screenshots of publicly reachable web pages you submit, stores the resulting images, and serves them from hosted URLs. The service is currently in beta: features, limits, and pricing may change with notice. During beta, captures are made from the dashboard at previewapi.dev only — direct API access is not open, and api.previewapi.dev does not accept customer calls.

2. Accounts

You sign in with Google or GitHub. You are responsible for activity on your account. You can create and revoke API keys from the dashboard, but they authenticate nothing during beta — no request anywhere is accepted with one, so a key from this product is not yet a credential that can be misused. Keep any key you create secret against the point at which direct API access opens, and revoke it from the dashboard if it is exposed.

3. Your responsibility for submitted URLs

You are responsible for every URL you submit. You confirm you have the right to capture the page and that doing so does not violate law, the page's terms, or third-party rights. Private and internal network addresses may be blocked by the service.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use the service for abuse, phishing, credential capture, stalking, illegal monitoring, or unauthorized access to systems or data. The full list of prohibited uses is in the Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these terms.

5. Credits and payment

Usage is billed in prepaid credits purchased through PayPal. One completed screenshot consumes one credit. Failed jobs are refunded during beta. Deleting a completed screenshot does not refund its credit. Refund terms for purchases are in the Refund Policy.

6. Stored data

To operate the service we store submitted URLs, job metadata (status, timing, size, errors), and generated screenshots. You can delete a screenshot at any time from the dashboard; that deletes the image, and the job record — including the URL you submitted — is kept. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

7. Availability

We aim for high availability but the beta service is provided without an uptime guarantee. We may throttle, suspend, or modify the service to protect its stability.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or that create risk for the service or others. You may stop using the service at any time. Deleting your account is not yet self-service: email [email protected] and we will remove it by hand, along with your jobs, screenshots, keys, and remaining credits.

9. Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in the dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms.
